So verwenden Sie Strip EXIF

1

Upload JPEG Photos

Add JPEG photos containing the EXIF metadata categories you want to remove.

2

Choose What to Strip

Select which EXIF categories to remove — GPS coordinates, camera & lens info, date & time, author & copyright, and embedded thumbnails. Every category is optional and independent.

3

Download Clean JPEGs

The tool rewrites only the EXIF chunks you selected and keeps everything else untouched. Download the cleaned JPEG with the same visual quality as the original.

Warum fileGOD verwenden?

Granular Category Control

Five independent category toggles let you strip GPS while keeping copyright, or strip camera info while keeping timestamps. Match the level of anonymization to the sharing context.

No Pixel Re-Encoding

Because Strip EXIF edits the EXIF chunk directly instead of re-encoding pixels, output quality is identical to input — no JPEG generation loss, no visual difference, no file-size penalty from re-compression.

Batch Ready

Drop up to 50 JPEGs at once. Every photo gets the same category selections applied, so you can prep an entire album for sharing in one pass.

Fully Client-Side

Every byte stays on your device. The EXIF edit happens in your browser using piexifjs — no server, no upload, no telemetry on the photo contents.

Strip EXIF is the surgical alternative to Strip Metadata: instead of nuking every hidden field, you pick exactly which EXIF categories to remove from your JPEG. Five independent toggles cover GPS and location data, camera and lens details, date and time stamps, author and copyright fields, and any embedded thumbnail preview. Unlike Strip Metadata, which re-encodes the image through a clean canvas and removes everything, Strip EXIF edits the EXIF chunk in place with piexifjs — the compressed pixel data is byte-for-byte identical to the original, so there is no visual quality loss and no file-size penalty. This makes it ideal when you need to keep some tags (say, copyright) while removing others (say, GPS coordinates before sharing a phone photo). All processing runs in your browser; the photo never leaves your device.

FAQ zu Strip EXIF

How is this different from Strip Metadata?+
Strip Metadata removes every hidden field in one pass by re-encoding the pixels through a clean canvas. Strip EXIF is surgical — it edits only the EXIF chunks you tick, JPEG-only, and never touches the pixels. Use Strip EXIF when you need to keep some tags (say, copyright) but remove others (say, GPS).
Which EXIF categories can I strip?+
GPS & location (latitude, longitude, altitude, direction), camera & lens (make, model, lens serial, exposure, focal length, ISO), date & time (taken, digitized, modified, timezone offset), author & copyright (artist, copyright notice), and embedded thumbnail (the small preview many phones embed). Each category is a separate checkbox and only what you tick gets removed.
Does stripping tags change the photo's pixels?+
No. The tool uses piexifjs to edit the EXIF chunk in place. The compressed image data is byte-for-byte identical to the original — no re-encoding, no visual difference.
Why default to GPS-only?+
GPS coordinates are the single most sensitive tag on a phone photo — they can reveal your home, workplace, or where a child was photographed. Camera and copyright data are usually harmless. GPS-only default matches the common case of 'strip location before sharing' without over-stripping.
Does it work for PNG or HEIC?+
No. This tool is JPEG-only because piexif's surgical edit operates on the JPEG EXIF chunk. For PNG or WebP, use Strip Metadata, which handles any format by re-encoding through canvas.
Are my photos uploaded?+
No. The tool loads each photo as a data URL, edits the EXIF chunk in memory, and produces a downloadable blob — all in your browser. Nothing is sent to a server.
