## Why fileGOD exists

Most online file tools — Smallpdf, iLovePDF, PDF24 Online, TinyPNG — upload your files to their servers for processing. Your tax documents, contracts, medical records, and personal photos pass through third-party infrastructure.

On March 7, 2025, the FBI Denver Field Office issued a public warning about malicious free online file converters being used to distribute malware and harvest personal data including Social Security numbers, banking details, and login credentials from uploaded documents.

fileGOD takes a fundamentally different approach. All processing happens locally in the user's browser. The server delivers the web application code; after that, no file data ever leaves the device. This is not a privacy promise — it is a verifiable architectural fact. Any user can open Developer Tools → Network tab and confirm zero file data transmissions during processing.

The system intelligently compresses in multiple passes to guarantee output at or under the target size. If the target cannot be reached without unacceptable quality loss, the user receives a clear warning with the best result achieved. Output never silently exceeds the target.
